03 about me

Pip Hope artist

I live and work in the beautiful Elham Valley in Kent.

In the 1980’s, I spent 4 idyllic years studying Illustration and graphic design at Medway College of Design, Rochester. I went on to have a successful career as a graphic designer.

More recently, I co-founded and now share the running of a business selling Native Wildflower Seed for bees and butterflies with my partner Edward.

Friendly Seed Company Ltd

Escaping the commercial world of graphic design has allowed me to re-visit the art that was my passion in my art college days.

This reconnection began recently, creating Linocuts, progressing to more experimental media, silk painting and wool-felting before returning to the familiar media of charcoal, oils and soft pastels. Who knows what is next?

Adding a garden studio to our home has allowed my creativity to blossom without their house smelling of Turpentine and sheep wool.

I am predominantly inspired by nature in my art, my love of the local countryside can be seen throughout my artwork.

UPDATE

A piece of my work, Curious Alma, was chosen to be exhibited in the

Royal Academy of Art Summer Exhibition 2025.

I am delighted and thank all those who encouraged me to apply,

especially Teresa who commissioned the piece.
